Flying “FIFI”
Picture of Kit and the crew of the B-29 Superfortress "FIFI" at the Great Bend Airport Air Fest on September 2015.
Kit in a seat behind the B-29 Superfortress pilot holding a picture of her Dad. Metaphorically speaking, Kit is looking over her Dad's shoulder during flight.
The darling of the B-29's during WWII, a P-51 single seat fighter airplane. This particular airplane escorted "FIFI" during my flight. Gave me goose-bumps.
No WWII warbird airfest is complete without a Japanese Zero in a mock aeronautical fight with the P-51. It was awesome!!
Approximately 5000 Japanese gave their lives to the Emperor navigating this aircraft against the Americans during WWII. The American's named it "baka" - Japanese for "idiot".
The B-29 "Enola Gay" at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. She's huge!
A tug was used to pull B-29 Superfortresses during WWII.
